Captain America was with us at Samurai Comics on Camelback Rd.

Hey there Loyal Followers. It’s been awhile. We’ve been pretty busy the last few months! To backtrack a bit, we had a very successful Free Comic Book Day! Out at 4 different Phoenix area comic book shops, we raised funds for Lucky Paws Arizona, Arizona Small Dog Rescue, and APARN. Check out our photos and a summary of the event here!

The end of May brought Phoenix Comicon and it was our first year having a table in Artist Alley. We sold our hand crafted items to raise funds for Free Arts of Arizona and Foothills Food Bank, while also raffling off a custom built Batman bike! The bike was built and donated to us by Brass Monkey Bike Shop and money raised went to the charity We-Cycle. In addition to fundraising, we assisted the Family Programming tract by presenting some great panels. Topics included a fossil hunt, introduction to comic books for kids & parents, table top gaming basics for girls, and popular video games. They all went over well and we receive good feedback. Did you make it to any of them? What did you think? We’re excitedly looking towards next Fan Fest and beyond!

Sunday at Phoenix Comicon 2015! (Not all of us were working that day, but seized the opportunity for a group photo op!)

This past weekend, on August 15th, we held our 2nd annual back to school fundraiser! We again partnered with our friends in Project Hero to put together a fun, family-friendly event in order to raise funds and donations for Tonalea Elementary School, a Title 1 school in South Scottsdale and celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Joker.

There was face painting from Blushing Peach Art, a dress-up/prop photo booth, raffle for fantastic stuff, and we sold our Also joining us was Dream Photography Studio and the Phoenix Comicon Street Team. All this awesomeness was contained in Samurai Comics on Camelback Rd. What made this event so special? Not only were we able to raise enough to contribute to a robotics program that is trying to get off the ground plus add to the supply haul, we did it with many people who were also with us last year! To add to all this – it was also Doctor Who Day at the shop!handmade crafts and baked goods. Plus, Chris Wood joined us as a guest, painting live at the event (it was part of the raffle, too).
